Join us for the 29th Annual
Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival
September 30 & October 1, 2017
Sheep– Goats– Alpacas– Llamas– Rabbits. In addition to live fiber-producing animals, the Animal Barn at the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival includes vendors offering all your favorite fibers and yarn along with equipment and supplies.
The Festival Marketplace features over 70 vendors offering fleece and yarn, handspinning and fibercrafting equipment and supplies, handcrafted wool items, small ruminant equipment and supplies, fencing materials and local meat and cheese.
The Festival’s Shepherd Workshops are designed to educate owners – and future owners – of small ruminants. These talks are free and no registration is necessary.
We’d love to hear from you with suggestions for future workshops or if you have the knowledge and skills to teach a Shepherd Workshop at the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival.
Fiber Arts Classes
Class options include a variety of full and half day sessions featuring fiber arts such as spinning, dyeing, knitting, crocheting, needle felting and weaving. Register for a class and receive a free pass to the Festival!
Please drop us an email with suggestions for future Fiber Arts Classes or instructors.
Many thanks to the folks from Green Mountain Spinnery for organizing the Fiber Arts Contests for the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival.
Fleece Show & Sale
The Festival’s annual Fleece Show and Sale offers high quality fleeces for handspinners, felters and other crafters. Come early for best selection!
A number of our Marketplace Vendors have volunteered to showcase their talents, crafting abilities and/or fiber products for these brief free demos. In addition to the scheduled demos, many vendors will be demonstrating in their booths.
We are pleased to feature the Cashmere Goat Association and their annual show at the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival. The cashmere exhibit is located in the Riverside Barns on the far end of the Festival grounds.
Other Activities & Events
Don’t forget to visit Floral Hall! Stop by the ever popular Drop In & Spin and try your hand on one of the spinning wheels under the tutelage of our volunteer spinners.
Spend some time with our volunteer knitters and sample yarns from our vendors at the Knit Along.
We introduced our Yarn & Fiber Tasting in 2014 as a way to showcase yarns and spinning fibers from many of our vendors. Yarns, along with needles and hooks, are provided for you to sample and enjoy. Spinning fibers will be located with the Drop in & Spin to allow for sampling. Yarn samples will be located with the Knit Along.
All our contests – fleece, handspun yarn and handicrafts – will be judged and exhibited at Floral Hall beginning at around noon on Saturday.
Our Sheep Herding Demonstrations are always popular. Located between the Dodge Gilman Building and the Food Vendors, demos will include sheep herding and sheep shearing.
